Texas Hold'em poker has become the pocker game of choice for the both the professional and the serious amateur in recent years. In fact, it is now the game most often played in pocker tournaments including the world championship held in Las Vegas every year. The game can accommodate up to 21 participants without danger of depleting the deck. The popular number is eight to ten. Our game holds seven.
In Texas Hold'em, seven cards are available to each player. A player's hand consists of two cards dealt face down to him and five cards dealt face up to the board, popularly known as the "flop", which are shared by all players in the game. Players can construct their final hands using any five cards from the two cards in their own hands and the five cards in the "flop". Bets are placed in a communal holding area called the "pot". The player with the highest ranking poker hand at the "showdown" wins the "pot".
At the start of the game, one of the players is selected as honorary dealer and has a 'D' button placed beside his I.D. card to signify his status. He doesn't actually deal since the casino provides an employee for that task. The button acts solely as an indicator of betting order. The player to the left of the dealer always bets first in a round. At the end of a hand, the player to the left of the current dealer becomes the new dealer.
Before the deal of a new hand, the player to the left of the dealer must bet one half the table minimum raise, called the "small blind" and the player to his left must bet the table minimum raise, called the "big blind". The dealer deals two cards, face-down, to each player, starting with the "small blind" player.
Beginning with the player to the left of the "big blind" player and, proceeding clockwise around the table, the players make their bets. When finished, the dealer then deals three cards, face-up, in the center of the table. These community cards form the "flop" and are shared by all of the players. Another betting round commences with the "little blind" player. After betting is done, the dealer adds a fourth card, face-up, to the "flop". A third betting round begins with the "little blind" player. Upon its conclusion, the dealer adds a fifth and final card, face-up, to the "flop". A fourth and final betting round commences with the "little blind" player.
At the conclusion of the fourth betting round, the showdown occurs. All players still in the game reveal their two hole cards. The player who can make the best pocker hand out of his two cards and the five community cards wins the pot. In the case of ties, the winners split the pot.
Of course, if, during any betting round, only one player remains in the game, he immediately wins the pot without having to reveal any cards. So way not start playing free online poker today ?
